About Us

In a world where we can fit an encyclopedia in our pockets and connect with someone across the globe at the touch of a button, previous generations feel like they are being left behind. [ST]^2 is a student run nonprofit working to bring the elders in our community back up to speed and, ultimately, helping them once again feel connected with the ones they love. [ST]^2 is a group of volunteering high school students in the NOVA region. Our mission is to teach elders how to use technology.

THE TEAM

Alex Bochenek

President

My name is Alex, and I am a current senior at TJHSST. A few years ago, I noticed that my grandma wasn’t entirely up to date on how to use the tablet she received for Christmas, and wondered if there was anything I could do about it. I recognized that many seniors are afraid of technology; yet, at the same time, their families equip them with iPads, smartphones and tablets. Soon after, the idea for Students Teaching Seniors Tech was born. I enjoy  volunteering with my friends  at a variety of residences across Northern Virginia and am excited to introduce the opportunity to help seniors to other students.

Hi! I’m Aditi, a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and the activities director and webmaster for [ST]^2. I enjoy reading and writing as well as learning about biology and computer science. Throughout my life, I’ve found that technology plays a huge role in my daily activities, and I hope to communicate my knowledge and experience to others.

Anshu Sharma

Treasurer

Hello! I am Anshu Sharma, a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. There, I love pursuing my interests in academics via courses such as AP Latin and Automation and Robotics, in extracurriculars by actively participating in my school’s Latin Club and Model United Nations team, and in sports by running as part of my school’s Cross Country and Track teams in the fall and spring and diving on Swim/Dive team in the winter. In all my endeavors, I enjoy actively participating and helping others understand the material better. I feel very grateful to be able to use technology effectively in my daily life and want to help others do the same.
